Governor Wike to declare 24th CJN Games on Wednesday
As the 24th Chief Justice of Nigeria Sports Competitions commenced over the weekend, Governor of Rivers State, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike is expected to officially declare the games open on Wednesday, September 19th, 2018, in Port-Harcourt.
The games, which started last Friday, September 14th through September 23th, will feature no fewer than six thousand judicial athletes across the county participating in fourteen various sports and four demonstration games.
According to the National President of National Sports Association for Judiciary Staffs Games (NASAJ), Comrade Emeka Ndili, he promised that game would be exciting, having received the full support of the Chief Justice of Nigeria.
The ten days games, also known as National Sports Association for Judiciary Staffs Games (NASAJ Games), has received the financial backing of the state government.
Comrade Emeka hinted: “Governor of River State, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike will officially declare the games open on Wednesday, and 14 various sporting events, and four demonstration games will be keenly contested by the athletes.
“Rivers State judiciary have promised to stage hitch – free games, just as necessary preparation have been put in place to ensure that only eligible athletes participate in the event.
“Similarly, as part of efforts to create awareness within the Garden City, a road show will be organized on Tuesday, September 18th, to drum support from the residents.”
In the same vein, Media Consultant for NASAJ Games, Pastor Faith Udochukwu Emmanuel remarked that arrangement put in place by the host state and the facility on ground would enhance the competition and make the games flow easily.
He confirmed that the defending champion, National Industrial Court (NIC) would be aiming to defend the title won at the last events held in Calabar, Cross Rivers State.
Pastor Emmanuel stated: “The team was sent forth on Friday, by the president of NIC, Justice Babatunde Adejumo and Chief Registrar, Mr. Williams Daudu who urged the team to retain the title won at the last edition.
“Also, Supreme Court who have not won the football trophy for sometime has promised to dethrone the defending champion in this edition and clinch the football gold medal.”
