Governor Kefas Meets PBAT, Reaffirms Commitment to APC, Security, and Agricultural Transformation
The Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Federal Government following a strategic meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House.
Speaking to journalists after the closed-door meeting, the governor described the engagement as “very meaningful,” noting that discussions centred on security, the welfare of the people of Taraba, and deepening collaboration between the state and the Federal Government. He said such interactions were necessary to reinforce sub-national and national development partnerships.
Governor Kefas conveyed President Tinubu’s strong interest in the progress of Taraba, particularly in the area of agriculture.
He highlighted the state’s vast arable land and natural resources, stressing that Taraba remains strategically positioned to key into the President’s agricultural transformation agenda.
According to him, the state is already witnessing increased farm yields through the introduction of mechanised farming, with tractors imported and deployed to boost cultivation across farming communities.
On political developments, the governor dismissed concerns about internal dissent, expressing confidence in his political structure and grassroots support.
He declared that delivering Taraba for President Tinubu in future elections would not be difficult, insisting that his administration enjoys the trust of the people and remains focused on people-oriented governance.
Providing updates on agricultural reforms, Kefas said the next phase of development would focus on establishing processing plants to add value to farm produce within the state. This, he noted, would enhance economic growth, create jobs, and reduce post-harvest losses.
The governor also assured that security in Taraba has improved significantly under his leadership.
He stated that while the state previously experienced restrictions in movement due to insecurity, residents can now move freely without fear, with crime reduced to minimal levels, aside from isolated incidents.
Commenting on the simultaneous observance of Lent and Ramadan, Governor Kefas described the period as divinely ordained and a powerful symbol of unity and collective prayer for the country’s peace and progress.
