Governor Abubakar dissolves Wikki Tourists management

Bauchi governor, Mohammed Abubakar, has approved the immediate dissolution of the management and coaching crew of Wikki Tourists Football Club (Wikki Tourists).

In a statement issued on Monday and signed by Press Secretary to the governor, Abubakar Al-Sadique, he stated that local coaches of the club were directed to oversee the club affairs until a new management is appointed.

According to the statement, the governor gave the matching orders Sunday after an earlier meeting with the management of Wikki Tourists.

The governor was said to have expressed his disappointment saying that the performance of the team in recent past was an embarrassment to the state.

He was said to have warned the management that if by the middle of the season, there is no improvement in the club’s performance, he will not hesitate to change the management and bring another one that is ready to restore the good name of the club.

“The tate governor gave Wikki Tourists all the supports it needs to make Bauchi proud, and assured that he’s ready to do more, when the glory of the football club, and indeed that of Bauchi State is restored,” the statement added.

It would be recalled that, the governor had earlier in March this year warned the management of the Bauchi state-owned club to raise the image of the state by showing impressive performance by the middle of the football season in April 2017 or be relieved of their appointments.

The earlier warning followed the dismal performance of Wikki Tourists Football Club in Sierra Leone and the return match in Nigeria.
