Hon. Wale Bello, patron of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Abeokuta North local government, Ogun State has confirmed that the era of victimisation of public servants across the state is over.
Hon. Bello, stated this having been moved by the reinstatement of the former NUT Chairman, Comrade Oludare Ilekoya, and Deputy Director in the Ministry of Education, Sanjo Majekodunmi by the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun during the World Teachers Day celebration held at MKO Abiola stadium recently.
He noted that with this demonstration of love by the governor to the admiration of teachers and other public servants, it has shown that there is hope for them in the discharge of their duties in the state without fear or trembling.
Speaking further, the patron remarked that the former NUT chairman, Oludare Ilekoya and the deputy director, Majekodunmi who were sacked by the immediate past government were known to be hardworking officers, whom he had cause to relate with very well.
“Majekodunmi, was one time Zonal Education Officer of Abeokuta North local government. He had proved to be a worthy representative of the Ministry carrying out his diligent duties without expecting gratification from the public.
“Governor Abiodun has by this kind gesture has given civil servants in the state reasons to be happy once again unlike the immediate past administration that derived joy in witch-hunting and punishing the workers unjustifiably.
“There is no doubt that our governor has restored the hope of the civil servants in discharging their duties. They can now discharge their duties without fear or favour. Governor Abiodun has demonstrated that the era of victimisation of public servants is gone forever.
”The affected civil servants have been vindicated by the governor’s actions.
It has shown that no matter how far lie travel, the truth will surpass. Our governor surely has the interest of the masses at heart.
“He has put smiles on the faces of teachers and their families. His action was timely because it was on World Teacher’s Day when some could have been in mourning mood due to the sacking of their members. It is indeed a new dawn in Ogun State because we have a listening governor with milk of human kindness flowing in him,” he opined.
