Gombe 2027: Pantami’s Supporters Urged to Remain Calm Over INEC List

The camp of Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Gombe State, has assured supporters that efforts are underway to resolve the omission of his name from the list of candidates released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

In a statement signed by Professor Suleiman Mohammed Gombe, the camp urged supporters of Pantami and the Pantamiyya Movement to remain calm, hopeful and committed to the campaign, describing the development as a temporary challenge rather than a final determination of his candidacy.

Pantami’s name was reportedly missing from INEC’s list despite a fresh governorship primary election conducted on September 29, 2026, following an order by the Federal High Court.

The statement said the candidate’s legal and liaison teams were already engaging with relevant organs of the PDP and INEC to secure compliance and correct the omission within the period permitted by law.

“We wish to assure all our supporters to remain calm, steadfast, and hopeful. This is a temporary challenge and a normal part of the electoral process, not a final determination,” the statement said.

The camp also alleged that some individuals were working behind the scenes to frustrate what it described as responsible leadership in Gombe State, but expressed confidence that the matter would be resolved.

It called on supporters across Gombe State and beyond to sustain their mobilisation efforts and remain focused on the movement’s stated commitment to public service.

“The Pantamiyya Movement remains strong, united, and committed to the rescue and emancipation of our people. No distraction will derail our course,” the statement added.

The development comes amid preparations for the 2027 general elections, with the publication of candidates’ lists by INEC a key stage in the electoral process.

The statement did not specify when the alleged omission would be rectified but maintained that discussions with the relevant authorities were ongoing.
