Gobir hails Emir Sulu-Gambari for rebuilding iconic Imam Gambari mosque in Ilorin

The tenth Sarkin Gobir and Madawaki of Ilorin Emirate, Alhaji Yakubu Garba Gobir, has lauded the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, for his visionary leadership in overseeing the reconstruction of the ultramodern Imam Gambari Mosque in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Gobir described the soon-to-be-inaugurated mosque as “a beacon of faith, unity, and heritage”, symbolizing the spiritual and cultural rebirth of Ilorin. The inauguration is slated for Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at 10 a.m.

According to him, the Emir’s dedication to preserving Ilorin’s Islamic heritage while embracing modernity reflects his exceptional leadership as chairman of the Kwara State Council of Traditional Rulers.

“The reconstruction of the Imam Gambari Mosque is more than a building project; it’s a testament to His Royal Highness’s commitment to preserving our heritage and promoting spiritual renewal,” Gobir said.

He noted that the project marks a milestone in what he described as the “Ilorin Renaissance,” adding that the mosque’s transformation will inspire generations and strengthen community bonds.

Gobir also appreciated the support of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, under whose administration the landmark project reached completion.

The revitalized mosque, which blends modern architectural design with traditional Islamic artistry, is expected to become a hub of faith and unity for Muslims across the Emirate.

The grand opening will draw religious leaders, traditional rulers, scholars, government officials, and Ilorin indigenes from around the world. The ceremony will feature Qur’anic recitations, special prayers, and goodwill messages celebrating faith-driven development and the enduring partnership between the palace and the state government.
