Ganduje frees 50 prison inmates

50 inmates serving different jail term at the Kurmawa central prison Kano regain their freedom as  part of the state’s 50th anniversary celebration.

The State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje who freed the inmates during his visit to the prison stated that the gesture to free the inmates is in connection with the line of activities scheduled as part of the state’s anniversary to mark its 50 years in existence as a state.

The Governor explined that the visit was to show to the inmates that the state administration is aware of their existence and that they are also regarded and seen as citizens.

The freed inmates were selected base on health status, lesser offences and those who have shown signs of reformation during their castration.

“We are freeing those who have poor health status, those with lesser offences and those who have shown that they have learnt their lessons. However, you should use your freedom to be better people and also to be productive to your community. On our part we will ensure that we have taken responsibility of your freedom by providing some assistance to you,” said Ganduje.
