Four Landgrabbers Arrested In Ogun Over Murder

Ogun State Police Command has arrested four suspected landgrabbers  for allegedly killing a 52 year old woman.
This was made known by the  Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi on Thursday adding that,the suspects committed the crime in Imoro axis of Ogijo town located in Sagamu local government area of the state.
Hear him ‘The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 4 land grabbers who were involved in the murder of one Sidikat Onasanya ‘f’ 52 years at Imoro via Ogijo’.
The police image maker gave identities of the suspects as include; Adewale Abimbola,  Monday Benzon, Mukaila Azeez  and Shodeinde Oluwafemi .
He said they were arrested on the 18th of January 18 following a report from Wasiu Onasanya who complained that he was in the village on the January 17,at about 9:00pm when the land grabbers came and attacked him with dangerous weapon.
Oyeyemi said the complainant  stated further that while they were making  effort to abduct him to unknown destination, his mother (who is now late) Sidikatu Onasanya prevented them from taking him away but she was roughly pushed away consequent upon which she fell down and became unconscious.
The old woman was reported to be  rushed to Mount Zion Hospital, Ikorodu where she was confirmed dead by the Doctor.
‘Upon the complaint, the DPO Ogijo Division S.P Tijani Muhammed led team of Policemen to the scene, but on sighting the Policemen, the hoodlums opened fire on them while the Policemen responded Fire with Fire’,he stated.
Oyeyemi said,at the end of the operation, the four suspects were arrested while others escaped into the nearby bush.
He said the corpse of the woman had been deposited at morgue of Olaabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital,OOUTH,Sagamu,adding that  recovered from the suspects include 23 expended and 2 live cartridges.
‘The Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu  has directed that suspects be transferred to FSARS for further investigation while serious manhunt has been launched for the fleeing members of the group’,he emphasised.
Meanwhile,it would be recalled that,Ogun State Government recently passed into law that any landgrabbers engaged jn killing would face death penalty if found guilty at court.
