Forum urges Kwara governor-elect to walk his talk

The Kwara State Governor-elect, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has been urged to evolve a blue-print which will turn around the fortunes of the state within the first year of his administration.
In a press statement issued in Omu-Aran today, the Kwara South Progressive Forum said that the governor has an abiding responsibility to make a difference from the rot which the state had been subjected to in the last 16 years of Bukola Saraki and Abdulfatah Ahmed administrations.
The statement was jointly signed by the Forum’s Co-ordinator and Secretary, Chief Bola Olu and Mr. Bisi Omidiji respectively.
As the arrow-head of the revolutionary “oto ge e” (enough is enough) mantra which worked decisively for his electoral victory, the forum added that it was only through exemplary leadership, impressive performance and accountability that Abdulrazaq could justify the public confidence and support for him.
“The recent general elections have clearly proved to the political elite that the average Nigerian voter attached so much value to his ballot, genuine public service and accountability,” the forum added.
It congratulated the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed; the state Chairman of APC, Hon. Bashiru Bolarinwa and all other party leaders and members for their hard work which totally routed the feudalistic Saraki hegemony out of the state.
Warning that the outgoing government will not go down without a fight-back, the Forum said that the only means of power retention on a long-term basis was progressive policies and relevant project execution by the in-coming government.
The governor-elect must never allow lethargy to set in from the starting block to the finishing end.
“You must constitute a team that will equitably represent the ethnic blocks in the state and prioritize the urgent needs of the workers, pensioners who had suffered criminal neglect by the out-going PDP government of Fatah Ahmed,” it added.
It also enjoined the governor-elect to critically study the agricultural potentials of the state with a view to driving the army of our unemployed youths back to the land for meaningful employment.
The forum further stressed the need for thorough investigation of the ownership of Shonga Farm, The Aviation College, Ilorin and Kwara Football Academy which have gulped so much of the state’s resources without corresponding returns. “Enough is really enough of our treasury looting,” it exclaimed.
“With transparency, accountability and proper blockage of all financial waste pipes, Kwara State must witness a meaningful turn-around within the next four years,” the forum concluded.
