Former Daily Trust MD, Isiaq Ajibola receives Award of Excellence

The National Association of Kogi State Students of the University of Abuja chapter has bequethed the award of ‘ Icon of Societal Change’ to Alhaji Isiaq Ajibola, former Managing Director, Daily Trust Newspaper, on the occasion of their annual public lecture and cultural day which held on Thursday in Abuja.

The award was given in recognition of his outstanding role and support for youths development in the society which includes sponsorship of an annual students debate in his community and several other programmes that he initiated to inspire the youths overtime.

Giving out the award on behalf of the student body, Professor Abdulhamid Ozohi- Suleiman of the faculty of Management Studies of the University, admonished the students to look up to Ajibola as a role model and emulate him as they grow into leadership roles in the society.

The professor extolled Ajibola’s good virtures and described him as a successful manager of human and material resources as demonstrated by his performance at the Daily Trust Newspaper, of which he is a founding member.

In his response, Ajibola appreciated the good gesture extended to him by the students and promised to do more in the areas of mentorship and capacity building.

The guest speaker at the occasion, Barr Natasha Akpoti, the governoship aspirant of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kogi State, challenged the students to embrace peace and unity in Kogi state by fighting the common cause of ethinic and religious conflicts in the state and in Nigeria as a whole.
