Fintiri distance self from plan to expel Wike, Fayose others
…..Warns PDP Against Deepening Internal Crisis
Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has distanced himself from ongoing efforts to expel the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and other prominent figures from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), cautioning that such actions could further destabilise the party.
In a statement on Saturday, Fintiri said he played no role in the push to remove Wike, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, and former PDP National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu. He condemned the proposal as a harmful move for a party already grappling with internal discord.
“I wish to categorically state that I dissociate myself from the position of expelling the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Gov. Wike, from the PDP,” he said. “This decision is not in the best interest of the party, and I will not support anything that could deepen the crisis.”
Fintiri reiterated that his position stems from a desire to safeguard unity and restore calm within the PDP, which has experienced sustained turbulence since the 2023 elections.
“As a faithful party member, my stance is clear: I stand for the peace and stability of the PDP,” he stated. “I will not endorse any action that threatens its cohesion. Reconciliation remains the only path forward.”
He urged party leaders to prioritise resolving differences rather than escalating them and called for collective commitment to dialogue, unity, and rebuilding trust.
“I remain committed to supporting any initiative that strengthens peace, stability, and progress in the PDP,” the governor added.
The controversy unfolds amid heightened tensions at the party’s national convention, where competing blocs continue to push divergent agendas for the PDP’s future.
