FG set to realign hazardous bend on Birnin Kudu highway

Dr. Babangida Hussain, the Permanent Secretary, federal ministry of works and housing during the weekend announced plans by the federal government to realign 9 points with a distance of 6-7klm of dangerous bends along Birnin Kudu highway in Jigawa state.

The Permanent Secretary, federal ministry of works and housing who led a team of engineers, federal controllers of works and other management staff of the ministry for an on the spot assessment of the dangerous bend said the current efforts was to “prevent loss of human lives on the road”.

Dr Hussain explained that the inspection tour was to further expose surveyors and engineers to enable them come up with a design and bill of quantity for the implementation of the project by the ministry.

The Walin Kazaure stressed that “Federal Government will soon embark on realignment of 9 points with a distance of 6-7klm of dangerous bends along Birnin Kudu highway in Jigawa state to prevent loss of human lives on the road”.

The Permanent Secretary said enumeration of affected farmlands in the proposed realignment of the road project is ongoing for possible compensation, as he added that as soon as the report and the design are ready, the ministry would forward it to the appropriate quarter for necessary action.

Dr. Babangida Hussain explained that the federal government was concerned by series of complaints by Nigerians over the hazardous bends that have become a killer spot on the strategic highway.

He assured of quicker action to avert further bloodshed on the strategic highway that link Kano to Cameroon and Central Africa.
