FG releases second tranche of N35, 000 minimum wage

The Federal Government has released the second tranche of the outstanding ₦35,000 wage award arrears to federal workers across the country.

This was disclosed in a statement on Saturday, August 9, 2025, by the spokesperson for the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF), Bawa Mokwa.

According to the OAGF, one month’s arrears from the initial five-month backlog had earlier been settled. With the latest payment, three tranches remain to fully clear the outstanding wage award.

The statement dismissed claims that the government had abandoned the payment, affirming its commitment to settling the arrears. It added that the wage award would continue to be disbursed in monthly instalments of ₦35,000 until the entire balance is paid.
