FG dismisses viral claim on nationwide school closure

The Federal Ministry of Education has debunked a message circulating across social media platforms claiming that schools nationwide have been instructed to shut down from 24 November 2025.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Ministry described the message as false, misleading, and not authorised by the Federal Government, the Federal Ministry of Education, any State Ministry of Education, or any recognised security agency.

The Ministry urged parents, students, school administrators, and the general public to disregard the rumour and desist from sharing unverified information capable of causing panic.

It reiterated that only announcements issued through official channels—including the Federal Government, the Federal Ministry of Education, State Governments, State Ministries of Education, and recognised security agencies—should be considered credible.

“Any announcement, advisory, or notice coming from unofficial or unverified sources should be ignored,” the statement emphasised.

The Ministry further appealed to Nigerians to verify information before sharing it, noting that responsible communication is essential in combating misinformation.

The disclaimer was signed by Folasade Boriowo, Director of Press & Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education.
