FG Acquires Abuja Metro Plaza As Headquarters For Hajj Commission

The Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by Acting President,Yemi Osinbajo rose from its sitting on Wednesday with a resolution to acquire the popular Metro Plaza building in Abuja to serve as permanent headquarters of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON.

The move came just few days after the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations marked by muslims the world over.

As at the time of filing this report details of how much government has agreed to purchase the property was still sketchy.

The gigantic structure was built by late Senator Haruna Abubakar who hailed from Nasarawa state.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity,Femi Adesina confirmed the purchase after the FEC meeting.

Prior to now, NAHCON management have been performing hajj operations from temporary office since its establishment in 2006.

Abdullahi Mohammed is the current Executive Secretary of the Commission.
