FEDUGA games: Lokoja to host 15,000 athletes and officials

No fewer than 15,000 athletes and officials from different parastatals, department and agencies are anticipated to partake at the 2nd Federal Ministry of Education Games (FEDUGA) slated for Lokoja, Kogi State capital.

Okeyinka Mathew, the FEDUGA games consultant revealed that the city of Lokoja will come alive for the games from August 18th – 23rd, 2019, having received the financial and logistics supports from the state governor, Yahaya Adoza Bello.

He confirmed the city readiness to host a befitting sporting events in a release made available to journalists by the media consultant, Faith Emmanuel.

Okeyinka noted that governor Bello, has even promised to be present and declare the six days games open at the state capital Lokoja, adding that it will make the games to be a memorable event due to its nearest to Abuja.

“The uniqueness of Lokoja for the games is the right choice due to it’s proximity to Abuja. It will encourage all the participants to turn up for the games en-mass as the games will only last for six days.

“Arrival for the games will be from August 16th – 17th, accreditation commences on the 18th, while the sports fiesta will be officially declared open by governor Bello on August 19th, 2019.

“Athletes are expected to compete in fourteen scoring events and demonstration games as it is going to be an exciting games having received the full financial and logistics backing of Kogi State government,” he said.

Meanwhile, Prof. Nabath Tenlega, team manager, National Open University of Nigerian(NOUN) has vowed to successfully defend and retain the soccer event trophy won at the maiden edition at the games.
