FCT Correspondents’ Chapel gets New Executives
……… as new Chairman gives fake Journalists red card
………. urges them to close shops and relocate immediately

The Correspondents’ Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT)Council, Abuja on Saturday elected a new leaders who will pilot the affairs of the chapel for the next three years.
According to the results of the poll, Comrade Philip Nyam of New Telephragh Newspaper emerged as Chairman while Comrade Jide Oyekunle of Daily Independent of Newspapers emerged as Secretary respectively.
Others are ; Huram Reuben of Gotel Television , Emmanuel Ehijene of Peoples Television ( PTV ) and Mrs Elizabeth Atime-Chirkpi of OrderPaper Nigeria .
The election which was held under a tight security by the Screening and Credential Committee of NUJ FCT Council led by Stella Okoh Esene.
The oath office was administered on the newly elected executives by the chairman of the Council, Comrade Emmanuel Ogbeche who enjoined the new officers of the Chapel to be upright and focus in piloting the affairs of the chapel adding that there was an enormous challenge ahead of them.
According to him ” You have to hit the ground running immediately because you have a very enormous task ahead of you. You must show fidelity, accountability and transparency through strict adherence to the constitution of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ). Anything outside of this constitution I’m holding you will not succeed “.
Responding, the new chairman of the Chapel who appealed to all aggrieved parties to shield their differences to join hands to build a better NUJ where peace, unity and progress reigns gave fake Journalists in the Capital Territory a red card , advising them to close shops and relocate immediately in their own interest
Comrade Philip promised that his Executive would work closely with the security agencies to make the. Capital Territory a no go area with the miscreants parading themselves as Journalists thereby spoiling the profession.
He also stressed the need to look into welfare and poor working conditions of journalists just as he
as he assumed that stiffer measures would also be taken against those that were bringing the name of the union and profession into disrepute.
According to him, ” Elections are over now so therefore I’m calling on all members to come and join hands with us so that we can move Correspondents Chapel forward. We are on a rescue mission and this exco would focus on key areas like welfare of Journalists, poor working conditions and rooting out of fake journalists in the system”,
