(Fact checked) 2023 presidential poll: EU, NDI/IRI did not ask INEC Chairman to step down

A report doing the rounds to the effect that the European Union, EU, in Nigeria, and the National Democratic Institute (NDI)/International Repubmican Institute (IRI) have called on the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, to step down has been fact checked to be fake.

The EU in Nigeria stamped the press statement as fake news.

Read the fake press statement purportedly issued by the bodies together with the copy on which they stamped “fake news” , thus heavily discounting its credibility.
