The controversy surrounding the certificate presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji Bello Mohammed to contest the state topmost seat at the forthcoming elections on March 2nd, 2019 has been finally laid to rest.
The Federal Ministry of Education has cleared the coast that the PDP candidate, Alhaji Bello does not have the minimum Senior School Certificate required to contest for the seat.
One Alhaji Nazir Abubakar M. had written the honourable minister of education request for confirmation of status of certificate from vocational training centre, Bunza, issued to Bello Muhammed.
The minister in his response declared that Bello’s certificate is not equivalent to WAEC or NECO as such it cannot be accepted.
This was made known in a letter written and signed by Mrs. V. Rowland Kayode, of Education Support Services Department, Evaluation and Accreditation Division of the Ministry of Education with ref no. EV/24/1/72, dated December 28, 2018 which stated that the PDP candidate certificate cannot be evaluated.
The letter with the heading ‘Request for confirmation of status of certificate from vocational training centre, Bunza: Bello Muhammed’ stated: “I am directed to acknowledge the receipt of your letter dated 17th of December, 2018 on the above subject matter, and to inform you that your certificate cannot be evaluated.
“Because the auto mechanic certificate issued to you by Ministry of Education, Sokoto State Division of Science and Technical Education Vocational Training Centre, Bunza is not equivalent to Senior School Certificate awarded by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) or National Examinations Council (NECO) in Nigeria.
Please, accept the warm regards of the Honourable Minister.”
