Emefiele meets with Buhari, says he will make news soon
Amid lingering uncertainty about his presidential aspiration, Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele, met with President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday.
Emerging from the closed-door meeting with the President, Emefiele stoked the fire of anxiety as he announced that there would be “news break” shortly.
Emefiele, who has yet to resign amid the ballyhoo about his continued stay in office in spite of his rumoured presidential aspiration, said he was enjoying the controversy.
“I’m having fun at the scenario. Let them have heart attack. It’s good to have heart attack. I am having a lot of fun,”‘he said in reaction to the ongoing debate about his resignation or continued stay in office.
Asked by State House correspondents about his reaction to the directive to political appointees seeking elective offices in 2023 to resign on or before Minday, May 16, 2022, Emefiele simply said: “There is no news now, but there will be news. You heard me, I said there is no news but there will be news.”
Emefiele had reacted to the purchase of presidential nomination form for him.by a group by saying he was waiting for God’s nod or divine direction.
He had also gone to court to challenge restrain all necessary quarters that might be planning to disqualify him.
