Eid-el-Kabir: Hon. Chinda urges Muslims to promote unity, tolerance, peaceful coexistence and the spirit of sacrifice
A member of the House of Representatives, repenting Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency in Rivers State, Hon. Kingsley Chinda has admonished the Muslim faithful to use the Eid- El Kabir festival to promote unity, tolerance, peaceful coexistence and the spirit of sacrifice.
In a statement to mark this year’s Eid el-Kabir Sallah celebration, Rep. Kingsley who is also Chairman Public Account Committee in the House said Nigeria could only fulfil its great potentials as a nation if the citizens continue to foster unity, peace, security and stability as well as show greater respect and love for one another.
” This is a moment for sober reflections; I enjoin you to use the period to uphold the spiritual benefit of the celebration by extending a hand of friendship and solidarity across all divides and imbibing the spirit of sacrifice and obedience to the higher as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim and upheld by Prophet Muhammed. “Truly, times are tough but we are a tough people too . Therefore , I have no doubt that we shall overcome our present economic setback sooner than anticipated , if we all commit to the ideals of nation building .
“I also enjoin every one of us to contribute into strengthening the bond of unity and oneness that exists among us. This , I believe, will spur us to avoid negative tendencies that could derail our efforts at ensuring faster economic revival and socio-political stability. ”
While wishing the Muslim a blessed and peaceful Eid el-Kabir Sallah celebration, ” This is an opportunity for us to reflect and pray for our nation; so that God in his in finite mercy will continue to guide and protect our country.
