Eid-el-Kabir: Akpabio Urges Sacrifice, Unity for Nigeria’s Renewal
President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has called on Nigerians to embrace sacrifice, unity and prayers for national renewal as Muslims across the country celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.
In a goodwill message issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima and Muslim faithful in Nigeria and around the world on the occasion of the festival.
The Senate President said Eid-el-Kabir symbolises the virtues of faith, obedience and selflessness as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice in obedience to Almighty Allah.
According to him, the values of devotion, sacrifice and submission to divine will are urgently needed in Nigeria at this critical time.
“To our dear President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, his vice, Senator Kashim Shettima and Muslim brothers and sisters, I felicitate with them on behalf of my family, constituents and the Senate on this blessed Eid,” Akpabio stated.
He urged Nigerians to extend love and support to the less privileged, stressing that such acts reflect the true spirit of the nation.
Akpabio also called on citizens to use the solemn period to pray for peace, security and prosperity, while offering prayers for troops battling insecurity and for farmers to safely return to their fields.
The Senate President further described Nigeria as being in a “season of testing,” saying the sacrifices made by citizens today through patience, tolerance and hope would shape the future inherited by the next generation.
He added that the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, backed by the National Assembly, is founded on the principle that meaningful national progress requires collective sacrifice.
Akpabio prayed for Allah to accept the prayers and sacrifices of the faithful and to heal and bless Nigeria.
“Barka da Sallah. Eid Mubarak,” he said.
