….Highlights Rising Public Engagement and Prosecution Success

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released an overview of its performance between 2014 and 2023, showcasing a significant rise in public engagement and sustained momentum in its anti-graft mandate.

According to the newly statistics posted on its website, the Commission received over 114,411 petitions within the nine-year period. From these, 79,245 cases were investigated, reflecting the agency’s increasing workload amid heightened public awareness and cooperation.

The EFCC also disclosed that 18,371 cases were filed in court, demonstrating its continued efforts to ensure that financial crimes are thoroughly prosecuted. Out of these, the Commission secured 11,860 convictions, a milestone that underscores its commitment to bringing offenders to justice.

The agency noted that the figures highlight not only the growing reliance of Nigerians on the EFCC to address corruption-related grievances but also the Commission’s resolve to strengthen institutional accountability.

Officials say the statistics reinforce the EFCC’s position as a central force in Nigeria’s fight against economic and financial crimes, while also calling for sustained public collaboration to consolidate recent gains.
