Edo State Taskforce against Human Trafficking outlines 1,250 households for counselling

No fewer than 1,250 households in Egor local government area, Edo State have been earmarked for counselling in a bid to stem the tide against trafficking in persons and illegal migration.
The campaign organised by Edo State Taskforce against Human Trafficking (ETAHT) is to raise awareness and sensitize members of the various households through inter personal and interactive talk.
Addressing residents of Evbuotubu Community and its environs in the council, the leader of the group, Uhunmwangho Endurance, said the the project is a weekly activity that has being on since last year.
Uhunmwangho remarked that the exercise which was tag “remove (Renewing and educating the minds of vulnerable Edo youths), was designed to sensitize 1,250 households on the implication of unsafe migration.
He said the programme is running along side other advocacy strategies of the taskforce like town hall meeting, market stalls, social media campaigns, television and radio jingles.
He hereby assured that the taskforce would not rest on its oars to bring to book anyone found to be involved in this devilish act of human trafficking, and warned people to disengage from it.
He advised parent to support their children to make the right choices in life, and not to give in to the deceit of human traffickers.
The tour provided with pictorial materials that depicts the horrors of victims of human trafficking and irregular migration.
The beneficiaries were also provided with instructive materials on how to access documents for safe travels.
