Edo PDP condemns attack on governor Fayose by security agents

Perturbed at the alleged attack on Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has staged a peaceful protest to register their displeasure over the attack.
The party on Thursday, hereby warned against intimidation of voters and attempt to rig Saturday’s  governorship election. yesterday
The state publicity secretary of the party, Chris Nehikhare who led the protesters to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council secretariat, as well as to the State Police Command to register their displeasure over the alleged assault on a sitting governor by suspected agents of government.
Nehikhare, who condemned in strong terms attempt by security agents loyal to a particular political party to rig and write results for Saturday’s Ekiti State governorship election said ,”Nigerians want a free and fair election, and not war.”
He said: “Edo PDP is using this medium  to express our solidarity with the good people of Ekiti State, particularly the Peoples Democratic Party members sympathized with Nigerians.
“The party in totality condemned the ugly incident in front of the Ekiti State Government House, which led to the state governor, Ayodele Fayose being allegedly brutalized by security agents.
“PDP as a family believes in the rule of law and wants a free, fair election and not war, and vowed to resist any attempt to rig and write results in the Ekiti governorship elections slated for Saturday in favour of a particular political party.”
Furthermore, Nehikhare who decried the deployment of heavily armed security personnel including over 30,000 policemen to Ekiti State, said that the motive behind the heavy security presence is to create unnecessary tension as well as to intimidate voters.
