Edo NUJ boss tasks Correspondents Chapel new executives to serve the interest of members

The newly elected executives of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, have taken oath of office to pilot the affairs for the chapel for the next three years.

The new executives elected unopposed at the NUJ secretariat, Benin City, on Friday were hereby charged to at all times serve the interest of members of the chapel.

The State Chairman of the NUJ, Sir. Roland Osakwe, while inaugurating the new exco stated, while noting that the Union is bigger than any individual.

The executives were later took an oath of office having been certified winners by the Election Committee Chairman, Kevin Okunzuwa witnessed by Comrade Osakue and other members of the Union and observers too.

The elected officials are Mrs. Nefishetu Yakubu of News Agency of Nigeria (Chairman), Jethro Ibileke of The NEWS/P.M. NEWS (Vice Chairman), Osaigbovo Iguobaro of Peoples Daily newspaper (Secretary), Idris Momoh of BusinessDay (Financial Secretary) and Banabas Uzozike of Vanguard newspaper (Treasurer).

In her inaugural speech, the new Chairman, Mrs. Nefishetu Yakubu, thanked members for the confidence reposed in her leadership, while promising to build on the legacy of the Comrade Titus Akhigbe led administration which she described as viable and results oriented.

With this development, the new exco have succeeded the Simon Ebegbulem-led former exco, dissolved by the state NUJ Congress over financial misconduct that almost brought the reputation of the Chapel to the mud.
