Edo 2020: Stage Set For National Sports Festival Opening ceremony Today

As the national Sports Festival tagged Edo 2020 officially enters day 4 today, participants in their thousands are gearing up for the official opening ceremony.
The ceremony will take place at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin city, the Edo state capital, as the venue has since worn a new and attractive look.
Security at the stadium has also been tightened as entrance will strictly be through customized tags for accredited athletes and officials including Journalists.
Sporting actions have been going on at various centers including swimming, tennis, badminton, squash and combat sports among others while some events will not start until Wednesday and Thursday this week.
In tennis, Team Ekiti two female and one male  players have qualified for the next round of their event after winning their games earlier today.
Daniel Adeleye defeated his opponent from Kwara State to qualify for the round of 32 while Esther Oni and Toyosi Adeusi both progressed to the round of 64 after emerging victorious in their games against Kwara and FCT opponents.
The weather has been hot thereby giving water hawkers a privilege to make good sales around the stadium and at the University of Benin where events are holding.
Several states including Bayelsa, Delta and Lagos have been sweeping medals in various games while Ekiti has one bronze medal to it’s credit.
On the COVID-19 situation, none of Ekiti State athletes nor official tested positive for the disease while reports from the camp of Kogi State say over forty athletes and twenty officials from the states have tested positive for covid-19 and have since been asked to return home .
