EDHA Crisis: 5,000 Protesters storm Benin City, declare support for Obaseki

No fewer than five thousand protesters stormed the streets of Benin City to pledge their support to Governor Goodwin Obaseki, over the imbroglio rocking the leadership of Edo State House of Assembly.
The protesters from Civil Society Organisations, Butcher Association, Public Work Volunteers (PUWOV) among others was led by foremost activist, Rev. Olu Martins and leaderships of other organisations converged at Kings Square, Benin City, and walked through major streets to show their solidarity support to Governor Obaseki.
While addressing the media at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat where they were received by the Union Chairman, Comrade Roland Osakue, the protesters who took time to deliver their speeches hereby condemned the activity of the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee on a fact finding mission to the state.
They categorically condemned the actions of the state lawmakers, who were operating from Abuja to cause crisis in the state over their grievances on the choice of leadership of the Assembly. Asking them to return to Edo and join their other colleagues in legislation, so as to move the state forward.
Similarly, they faulted the outcome and declaration of the Abuja led Committee issuing seven days ultimatum to governor Obaseki to issue another letter of proclamation to the Assembly for a fresh elections of leadership of their choice.
In his reaction, Comrade Osakue saluted their composure and orderliness, while urging them to guide against the infiltration of thugs in their midst, while promised that their messages would be adequately reported in various media organisations.
