Easter: Adesanya-Davies Calls for Peace, Unity, Responsible Leadership in Nigeria, Globally

Ambassador Bishop Professor Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies, former presidential candidate and Peace Consul of the United Nations Positive Livelihood Award Centre (UN-POLAC), has called for peace, unity, and collective responsibility among Nigerians and the global community as Christians celebrate Easter.

In her 2026 Easter Sunday message, Adesanya-Davies described the resurrection of Jesus Christ as a powerful symbol of hope, renewal, and victory over adversity, urging people to embrace its message in addressing contemporary challenges.

She noted that the Easter story remains a timeless reminder that hope will always prevail despite suffering and uncertainty. According to her, “Easter is a divine assurance that light will always overcome darkness. It calls us to rise above our differences and embrace peace, love, and unity as the foundation for national and global transformation.”

Addressing Nigeria’s socio-political landscape, the UN-POLAC Peace Consul urged leaders at all levels to demonstrate integrity, fairness, and accountability in governance. She also called on citizens to actively support nation-building through peaceful coexistence, lawful engagement, and mutual respect.

“Nigeria’s progress depends on our collective commitment to justice, unity, and the fear of God. We must all rise to our responsibilities as citizens and leaders,” she said.

Extending her message to the international community, Adesanya-Davies appealed to world leaders to prioritise diplomacy, peace, and human dignity in resolving global tensions.

“At a time of growing uncertainties across nations, the world must choose dialogue over conflict and compassion over division,” she added.

She further charged the Christian Church to remain steadfast in its spiritual and moral responsibilities, urging it to serve as a beacon of hope, intercession, and guidance to society.

“The Church must continue to shine as the light of the world, offering hope to the hopeless and strength to the weary,” she said.

Adesanya-Davies concluded her message with a call to action, urging individuals and communities to embrace love, unity, faith, and peace, while encouraging people to commit their lives to Jesus Christ.

She also extended warm Easter greetings to Nigerians and people around the world, wishing them a season filled with joy, renewal, and divine peace.
