Doctor kills woman while allegedly performing caesarean operation through YouTube
A medical practitioner is under investigation for allegedly causing the death of a woman while attempting to perform a cesarean section based on instructions from YouTube videos.
The incident has raised concerns about the risks of relying on online tutorials for complex medical procedures.
The pregnant woman lost her life and the baby also died in the process.
In a video shared on Instagram by Stanley Ontop, a Nollywood producer, Onyekachi Eze, the husband to the woman and the child narrated how the doctors and nurses performed a CS on his pregnant wife.
According to Eze, he brought his wife who was in Labour to the hospital and was informed by the doctor that a CS needed to be carried out on her.
He, however stated that after consenting to the procedure, he was only shocked when he saw the doctor watching a CS procedure on YouTube.
He said,“I carried my wife to the hospital when she was in labor, and the doctor said she needed to undergo an operation because she was bleeding.
“So the female doctor called another doctor to come and operate on her. Right in my presence, they were using their phones to watch a YouTube video on how to perform surgery, and I lost my wife and my baby during the process.”
In a second video, the Nollywood producer subsequently showed where police officers had arrested the owner of the hospital.
The second video was captioned, “The owner of the hospital where doctors were watching YouTube on how to perform surgery on a pregnant woman has been arrested.
Nurses were arrested too, but the doctors who performed the surgery had absconded. They are still being searched for.”
