DG RMRDC urges exercise for better work force
The director General of raw materials and research development council has urged civil servants to ensure routine exercise in order for him to become more active and smart in discharging their duties.
Professor Hussain Doko Ibrahim disclosed this at the weekend during a routine exercise organized by the sport committee at the weekend in Abuja.
The DG who was represented by one of the directors Dr. Theresa Omorojo added that many staff are aging therefore there is the need for physical exercise “some us are over 50 and we need this exercise to stay healthy and fit to help us attain maximum productivity’.
He further explained ‘once staff don’t call in sick all the time the work will not suffer and by doing well it will be to the good of the council and the country”.
“This exercise also helps us to socialize with one another because we don’t get to know all our staff in other departments but this has helped to bring us together”.
The chairman of the sport club Mr Batako Umar Lapai expressed satisfaction with the turnout of staff for the exercise unlike the first edition of the program.
He urged other MDA’s to emulate the act of exercising because of its advantages ‘many of our colleagues already are suffering from all kinds of illnesses but with this exercise their health is improving’.
He further explained that “exercise helps blood circulation which is key to every human; therefore we will do our best to sustain this program because if the body functions well it will improve productivity at
work”.
Lapai also said the exercise is in line with the civil service policy where government encourages civil servants to stay fit by exercising regularly, he added that “though there are financial implications but with commitment the program will be sustained”.
