DELE MOMODU TO DELIVER LECTURE ON YORUBA CULTURE
The famous Publisher of Ovation Magazine,Chief Dele Momodu is to deliver a lecture which is aimed and designed to promote Yoruba culture and language.
This was made known at a press conference held at the boardroom of Ministry of Tourism and Culture in Abeokuta in preparation for the 5th edition of Gbagede Ewa Ede Foundation.
Addressing newsmen, founder of the project, Princess Adejoke Somoye said Momodu will speak on the topic,’Yoruba Culture and Heritage: A Priceless Gifts to Humanity’.
She disclosed that the event scheduled to hold on Sunday at June 12 Cultural centre,Abeokuta will also parade number of personalities which include;Governor Ibikunle Amosun, Chief(Mrs) Bola Obasanjo, Iyalode Alaba Lawson, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, Oba Fatai Akamo and Oloye Lekan Alabi among others.
Somoye said,the foundation was established as a forum to rediscover the hidden treasure in the beauty of Yoruba language.
‘I noticed our children are not speaking the language anymore and I’m thinking of making attempt to endure it doesn’t go into extinction’,she explained.
The culture promoter said she has a conviction that,the possessors of Yoruba heritage will be proud of the revival project wherever they find themselves.
‘We have a dream that one day,the possessor of this great heritage(Yoruba language) will learn to love,embrace and be proud of it wherver they find themselves,yes we have a dream’,she stressed
Ogun State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Muyiwa Oladipo in his contribution called on stakeholders to revitalize Yoruba culture and salvage it from going into extinction.
He said event organised by Gbagede Ewa Ede Foundation would be adequately supported by the government.
