Daria Media names winners of 2019 scholarship for women in journalism
Daria Media has announced the 2019 recipients of the Mamman Marshal Scholarship For Women In Journalism.
Six students drawn from Bayero University, Lagos State Univeristy and University of Uyo will benefit from this scholarship which covers tuition and accommodation.
The recipients will also receive a modest stipend for the duration on their first degree.
According to the organisers, winners for the 2019 scholarship are Bilikisu Kabiru (Bayero University Kano), Hauwa Suleiman (Bayero University, Kano state), Victoria Ochene (Bayero University, Kano state), Toyin Johnson (Lagos State University), Marian Ileyemi (Lagos state University), Essien Mmyenne (University of Uyo).
The scholarship award, set up by Kadaria Ahmed, a seasoned journalist, is to honour her father and his legacy.
Six students from Bayero Univeristy, University of Uyo and Lagos State University were awarded the scholarship in its inaugural edition in 2017.
For the 2019 academic year, a total of 12 female students are now recipients of the scholarship.
