Danjuma dazzles at 9th Asaba Ladies open

It was an amazing night at the Ibori Golf and Country Club (IGCC), Asaba, Delta State as Rachael Danjuma emerged winner at the 9th Asaba Ladies Open Golf Tournament concluded on Sunday.
The tournament, which teed-off on Friday through Sunday was organised by the IGCC Lady Captain, Prinye Obuaya, and it attracted about a hundred golfers in both men and ladies cadre from various golf clubs across the country.
Danjuma, was at her best as she played a gross of 169 over two days to emerge champion of the tournament for ladies in the handicap 0 – 14 category.
Amina Winifred placed second having played a gross of 175, while Joy Solomon gross of 179 placed her in vantage third position ahead of Val Mantheaw, who also recorded a gross of 179 to place fourth.
While expressing her victory at the closing ceremony, Danjuma attributed her victory to hard work and determination on her part. She added that keen competition from other competitors also propelled her to victory in Asaba.
However, in the lady handicap 15 – 28, E. Egwuatu recorded 154 net over two days to win the category ahead of Sandra Emina, 157 net, while Ehis Igbinadolor placed third with 158 net. P. Akpan won the handicap 29-36 cadre with 88 net. M. Aitoh won the vet ladies event after playing 167 net over two days.
Other winners are Angela Uwabor won the day one best net with 78 net, while Y. Grace emerged winner in the day one best gross with 98 gross. Also, G. Lee played 73 net to win the men’s event, just as E. Obiora won the vet men category with 79 net.
The duo of J. Okojie and Rachael Danjuma won the longest drive in men and ladies event respectively, while nearest the pin award was won by G. Lee and O. Origin in both men and ladies category too.
