Dangote Refinery Cuts Petrol Price Again, Drops to N820 Per Litre

Dangote Refinery has announced another reduction in the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, lowering it from N840 to N820 per litre. The new rate takes effect immediately, marking the second price cut within a week.

This follows a previous downward adjustment from N880 to N840 per litre, driven by fluctuations in global crude oil prices due to a 12-day geopolitical crisis in the Middle East, which temporarily pushed prices upward.

Confirming the latest development in Lagos, the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, said:

“The ex-depot price of PMS has been further reduced from N840 to N820 per litre, with immediate effect.”

The refinery assures steady availability of high-quality fuel, which has attracted more independent marketers to its distribution chain. Existing partners such as MRS, Heyden, Ardova (AP), Hyde, Optima, and Techno Oil are expected to implement the revised pricing at their outlets.

New distributors have also joined the growing network, including TotalEnergies, Garima Petroleum, Sunbeth Energies, Sobaz Nigeria Ltd., Virgin Forest Energy, Sixxco Oil Ltd., N.U. Synergy Ltd., Soroman Nigeria Ltd., Jezco Oil Nigeria Ltd., Jengre, Cocean, Kifayat, Triumph Golden, Sifem Global, Riquest, and Mamu Oil.

As the world’s largest single-train refinery, Dangote Refinery continues to reshape Nigeria’s fuel supply landscape with competitive pricing and wider product accessibility.

In a broader effort to transform fuel distribution nationwide, the refinery has invested over N720 billion in deploying 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered trucks. This initiative is expected to save Nigerians over N1.7 trillion annually.

According to the refinery’s management, it will absorb about N1.07 trillion in yearly distribution costs to support more than 42 million Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), easing their energy burden and enhancing profitability.

This cost absorption and improved logistics framework are expected to drive down pump prices and ease inflationary pressures.

Beginning August 15, Dangote Refinery will start direct delivery of petrol and diesel to fuel stations, industrial hubs, and large-scale consumers across the country.
