DailyTrust Honours Isiaq Ajibola and others.
The Daily Trust newspaper on Thursday honoured its pioneer and critical hands on Alh Isiaq Ajibola a co founder of the company, pioneer General Manager and former Managing Director was honoured with a prestigious “Award of Excellence” by the company as part of its 20th year anniversary celebration .
The occasion was witnessed by dignitaries from media, politics and all walks of life, took place at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja.
Special feature at the even was a panel discussion on “Journalism as Business: News, Views and Advertising.
The discussants are: Mr. Frank Aigbogun (Publisher, Business Day); Senator Chris Anyanwu (Proprietor, Hot FM); Tolu Ogunkoya (Regional MD, MediaReach OMD) and MD, Premium Times online, Mr. Dapo Olorunyomi, and moderated by Kadaria Ahmed
The panelist xray the relationship between Journalism as a profession and Business as its critical mass to support the growth of the media in any society esp with the challenges of online.
Ajibola the author of the book titled “Journalism and Business;My Newspaper Odyssey” retired from active service in December 2014.
Reacting to his award Ajibola said he felt honoured by the award, adding that he is humbly dedicating it to the staff of the company who worked relentlessly to help achieve the great height we are all talking about today.
“The highly talented and hard working people who worked in the company did so with a high sense of commitment, dedication and responsibility. This has brought the company thus far. Therefore, I dedicate the award to them.
Also reacting to the nomination in a statement signed by its spokesman Durojaiye Hassan the Integrity Group, an association of young professionals in the Yagba Federal Constituency, Kogi State, expressed delight for an award of excellence giving to Alhaji Ajibola by Daily Trust.
“We are proud of Alhaji Ajibola. He is a man of integrity who has rose through the ranks to become the Managing Director of the company, is a testament to his brilliance, hard work and pedigree.
“This award has once again confirmed that our identification of him as an agent of social change and transformation in the society is very apt and valid.
