By Punarimam Fehintola

Civil society organizations Open Alliance have urged government especially ministry of justice who are key members involved in the process of Open Government Partnership  OGP to work hard towards ensuring success in the implementation.

Chairman of the open alliance steering committee Edetean Ojo said the nature of our political system is a determining factor “ the federal executive council will be dissolved by may 29th 2019 and new ministers will be inaugurated which will take a while for them to settle in. Though it is a political challenge that arises from the nature of our political arrangement. We hope that permanent secretaries will be able to hold sway and manage the process until new ministers are appointed “

The chairman disclosed this during the 2nd General Open Alliance meeting in Abuja.

Mr Ojo also added that one of the challenges relating to the national action plan is the fact that two months is left for the current plan to relapse and there is need to speed up “we have outline the road map for that process we are likely going to solve that problem quickly to meet up with deadline”.

The chairman further emphasise the need for government to include the OGP into the national budget in order to ensure proper funding “governmnet should include OGP in it’s budgetary allocation to support the Secretariat will go a long way as more staffs are needed and more states are currently joining so the need to support to implement the project is very significant”.

Meanwhile the National Coordinator of the Open Alliance Ayomide  calls for full government participation while she added that if one side is not committed  it may affect implementation “ participation  has not been full and optimal as expected, it will be good to see a balance from government and CSOs so, we hope to review ways we can improve in the second national action plan”.
