COVID-19: Submit Yourself For Screening – Abba Kyari Orders House of Reps Members

Worried at their level of non-compliance at the airports, Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari has ordered House of Representatives members who just returned to the country to report to the nearest Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) test centre with immediate effect.

This became necessary as many of them who refused to subject themselves for Corona virus screening exercise upon arrival from foreign trips posed great threats to the health of other members and Nigerians at large.

The Chief of Staff gave this order in letter written to the Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Olufemi Hakeem Gbajabiamila, with reference number SH/COS/TP/03, dated March 21st, 2020.

In the four paragraphs letter titled ‘COVID-19 – Airport Screening’ Kyari said: “It has been brought to the Hon. Minister of Health recently reported to this office that some members of the House of Representatives are refusing to subject themselves to medical screening at airports.

“As you are aware, these airports screening are our primary line of defense and refusal by any citizens subject to these tests is a threat to our nation.

“Accordingly, you are kindly requested to direct all members of House of Representatives who returned to Nigeria from foreign trips to report themselves to the nearest NCDC test centre with immediate effect.

“As always distinguished Speaker, please accept the assurances of my highest regards.”
