Covid-19 Stay At Home Order: Ogun Residents Comply With Government Relax Hours

There was absolute compliance on Tuesday as residents in Ogun State complied with the state government directives to operate between the hours of 7am and 2pm.

The hours were allowed by the government to the people in order to transact business activities during the stay at home syndrome to ease the hardship emanated from the outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic ravaging the country and worldwide.

Though, President Muhammadu Buhari in a nationwide broadcast on March 29th, 2020 had issued absolute two weeks total lockdown in Lagos, Ogun and Abuja due to increasing rate of the deadly disease, as cases have continually growing especially in these aforementioned places.

However, according to Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, he claimed to have appealed for extension till last Friday from Federal Government, but due to various reports, he has to announced today (Tuesday) as half free working day to ease the effect.

Similarly, it was announced that people can go out between these hours every two days interval, abruptly to allow those whose means of living is based on daily income.

Moreover, Daily Dispatch monitored the movement across various markets, streets and other places discovered that many of the residents who left their homes early in the morning abide by the stipulated timing set aside by the government.

As at 2:05pm, markets at Kuto, Omida, Lafenwa and many others have become deserted as anyone who witnessed the influx of people before the expired time would thought that there was outbreak of war, as everywhere became empty within short time.

This development showed the reasonings and better understanding of the people and their readiness to work with the government in its fight against the deadly virus.

Meanwhile, the next movement is expected to be on Thursday and Saturday respectively, while the relaxed hours lasted.
