COVID-19: Ijebu Youth Association Donates Relief Packages To Six Ogun East Councils

Various relief packages to cushion the hardship effect of coronavirus pandemic lockdown have been donated to residents of six local government areas in Ogun East Senatorial district of the state.
The materials being donated by Ijebu Youth Association (IYA) to support the effort of Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun led government included several bags of rice, packs of hand sanitisers, nose masks, and many others.
Beneficiaries of the relief materials were vulnerable, aged and the poor people from Odogbolu, Ijebu North, Ijebu East, Ijebu North-East and Ogun-Waterside local government areas.
President of the Association, Comrade Emmanuel Fayomi in a chat with newsmen at Ijebu-Ode during distribution process explained that the gesture was to assist the efforts of the government in providing succour to the people of the area.
Fayomi said, “It is of necessity to compliment the effort of Ogun State government, which has been proactive during this pandemic period.
“It is very lackadaisical for us just to remain idle while the whole country is in peril. We have to make our own effort. My message to the youths is to be law abiding, maintain social distance, use alcohol based hand sanitiser and to key into the lockdown agenda of the governor of the state.”
In the same vein, Secretary of the Association, Comrade Prince Oyenuga Temitayo appealed to other Nigerians to emulate the gesture. “We have come to show the capacity of our leadership as we need to respond to the youths need as far as the state is concern.
“We are representing the six local government areas in Ijebuland, we need to come out to relief the youths from all forms of hooliganism, social vices and among others.”
Moyegeso of Itele Ijebu, His Royal Highness, Engr. Mufutau Adesanya Kasali, Iboriaran I in his remarks noted: “At this pandemic time, the youths have to keep to the rules in order to save other peoples lives. At this period, the youth should stay at home and sale the idea to other.
“There are lot of awareness on the television for undergraduates and secondary school students, they should allow them take part in the activities as soon as the virus go to where it came from, so that they can begin their examinations.
“The government are doing the little they can do, a lot of people are comparing Nigeria with America, British. As far as palliative is concern, we didn’t have the money so people should bear with the government and the government should please do the little that they can do for people to feel the impact.”
Meanwhile, while appreciating the youths gesture, the Vice Chancellor of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijebu-Ode, Professor Abayomi Adelaja Arigbabu, said the gesture should not be limited to this period alone.
