Court Showdown: Supreme Court to Decide Fate of ADC, PDP Leadership Rows
Supreme Court to deliver judgment Thursday in three cases relating to leadership crises rocking the ADC and PDP
On the ADC, the Supreme Court is scheduled to deliver judgment in the appeal filed by ADC National Chairman David Mark, who is involved in a leadership dispute with factional ADC National Chairman Nafiu Bala Gombe.
Mark is asking the court for an order staying the execution of the Court of Appeal’s judgment delivered on March 12, which dismissed the ex-Senate President’s appeal in relation to the ongoing leadership dispute in the party.
The Supreme Court will also deliver judgment on two appeals connected to the PDP’s internal leadership crisis. The cases were filed by the Makinde-backed Turaki faction challenging earlier decisions of the Court of Appeal delivered on March 9.
The first appeal, marked SC/CV/164/2026, was filed by the PDP against the Court of Appeal’s decision, which affirmed the judgment of Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court, Abuja, barring the PDP from proceeding with its national convention without accommodating the former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido.
The second appeal, marked SC/CV/166/2026, was filed by the PDP, its National Working Committee (NWC) and National Executive Committee (NEC) against the judgment of the Court of Appeal, Abuja, which affirmed the earlier decision by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from monitoring the Ibadan convention pending when conditions precedent were met.
