Court dismisses case against Ibom Air passenger.
On Wednesday, an Ikeja Magistrate Court in Ogba, Lagos State, dismissed the case against Comfort Emmanson, the passenger accused of disorderly conduct and assault aboard an Ibom Air flight.
Presiding Magistrate Olanrewaju Salami discharged Emmanson after the police withdrew the five-count charge previously filed against her.
The decision followed an announcement by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), who stated that the matter had been resolved after consultations with key stakeholders in the aviation industry.
Keyamo explained that the resolution was reached after a thorough review of the incident, taking into account the appeals from concerned parties and the expression of remorse by those involved.
He further disclosed that Ibom Air had opted to drop its complaint against Emmanson, who was initially arrested in connection with the August 10 incident.
Emmanson had been arraigned earlier in the week and granted bail set at ₦500,000 with two sureties. However, she was remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre after failing to meet the bail conditions.
At the continuation of the proceedings, the prosecuting counsel, Oluwabunmi Adeitan, informed the court of recent developments that warranted the case’s withdrawal. A formal application to discontinue the case was submitted and accepted by the court.
