COSEG, CAIDOV others mourns Fredrick Fasehun

The demise of the founder of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) Dr Frederick Fasehun has continued to attract attention as several organisations and individuals continue to condole with his immediate family and the OPC.

The umbrella body of self determination group in the country,Coalition of Oodua Self determination group (COSEG) in a condolence message signed by the chairman  of its coordinating council, Comrade Ifedayo Ogunlana described the death of the octogenarian as great loss to Yoruba nation in particular and Nigeria in general..

According to COSEG “Dr Fasehun was a committed to the cause of Yoruba race and good governance. He was dependable,reliable and dogged. We shall miss his leadership in the Coalition as he was the chairman of the board of trustees till he died”    

COSEG also appeal to the state and federal government to accord him historic burial that he deserves.

The centre against injustice and domestic violence (CAIDOV) posited that the human rights and civil society family has lost one of its one and that Dr Fasehun played active role in the battle for the return of democratic governance in the country alongside several activists. 

CAIDOV in  it reaction to the death of Dr Fasehun by its Executive Director, Comrade Gbenga Soloki disclosed that the deceased activist contributed immensely to the return of democratic rule in the country. 

CAIDOV described Dr Fasehun as one of the heroes of the June 12 struggle that sacrificed so much for this democratic rule and that he never relented to demand for good governance until his death.

“We received the sad news of Dr Fasehun’s death with shock. Another leader in the pro democracy movement is gone. He was a dogged and rugged fighter who sacrificed all for the attainment of democracy. He,alongside several other activists were arrested and hounded into detention by military regimes,yet they remained steadfast. “

We shall definitely miss his wisdom and commitment. Adieu gallant soldier and dependable leader ,friend of the masses and a passionate colleague.
