Conte d’Ivoire enjoys improved Economic growth

Côte d’ Ivoire has experienced good performance in it’s economic activities with a 7.4% growth rate in 2018. The macroeconomic framework remains robust with projection growth rate of 7.5& for 2019.

During the country report  presentation by  honourable Aka Herve a representative from The Gambia at the 1st  ordinary session of the ECOWAS Parliament in Abuja reveals that  this performance so far has exceeded that of all countries of west Africa economic and monetary union and the 6.6% average growth  rate of the Union.

The report further States that inflation remains low despite the previous increase of 7.5% ,therefore with the inflation at an annual rate of 0.4% compared with 0.5% in 2017, representing a 0.1% decrease ,the government intends to introduce innovative measures by putting in a new taxation policy .

Honourable Aka also revealed during the presentation that government also plans to improve on the growth mechanisms in order to enhance tax revenue rate for the development of the private sector. “To enhance this goal, a monitoring committee of the tax reform commission composing of 19 members from the public administration and private sector, was set up on 30th May 2018”.

According to the report the banking sector in The Gambia has also improved “with a total balance sheet of 12. 695 trillion CFA Francs at the end of December 2018, representing a 15% increase. The proportion of the population with access to banking services is estimated at 19. 7%, representing a 2% increase over the previous year”.

Meanwhile the increase  human right issues in cote ‘d Ivoire has push the government to act by passing a decree establishing notary public offices .This increased the number of notary public offices from 251 to 363 .

“The measure has helped to enhance the capacity of the first instance courts in Plateau and Yopougon and set up notary public offices in the majority of the subdivision court”.
