Constitution Review: Senate changes Nigeria Police Force to Nigerian Police

Amidst agitations for constitutional amendment, the Nigerian Senate has voted in support for the change of name for the police.

In a unanimously YES votes yesterday, the lawmakers asked that the agency’s name should be changed from The Nigeria Police Force to Nigerian Police.

Also, they largely voted to change the names of some local government councils in five states, which are: Ebonyi, Oyo, Ogun, Plateau and Rivers.

On the issue of states creation, the lawmakers could not reached an amicable resolution as their votes in support or against are equally divided, thus putting to rest any attempt to create additional states in the federation until further notice.
