Comptroller of Customs Uniform: Hameed Ali To Seek Legal Interpretation

Following the stand of the Senate that the Comptroller of Customs, Hameed Ali should appear before it in uniform, the CGC has disclosed that he might seek legal interpretation.

The Senate had invited the Customs CG to appear before it on the controversial motor duty paymentand he should do so wearing his customs uniform.

But a letter addressed tothe Senate President, Hameed said: “regarding the wearing of uniform, i wish to advice that the Senate avails itself of the legal basis of its decision to compel me to wear uniform.

“I am similarly seeking legal advise on this issue, so that both the Senate and I will operate within the legal frame work.

“I regret my inability to answer the Senate invitation owing to a recent bereavement. I will however, make myself available whenever i am needed in future,” he wrote.
