CITAD trains AMAC staff on ICT

The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) trains the staff of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), to develop on ICT for a more conducive work environment.

Speaking, the Executive Director CITAD, Mr. Yunusa Ya’u, said the programme was aimed at impacting beneficiaries with the knowledge of utilising ICT to run successful business enterprises.

He further said that the world is fast growing in technology adding that, Nigeria should make haste to embrace the initiative.

 “We are gradually moving to the e-government almost everything is migrating online and therefore this task is a crucial part of our skills that are required in the 21st century which Nigerians should embrace. We do not want anybody to be left behind and we want AMAC to become the Centre of ICT drive to provide efficiency in terms of service delivery, productivity, and convenience.

“We are empowering them especially through the utilisation of digital knowledge so that they can achieve self reliance in different business areas such as digital entrepreneur skills that one can use to provide  good and services.

“Citad is ever ready to increase the number of beneficiary.

With support from action aid we have been able to establish five ICT Centre in FCT in different area Councils, this are facilities that we have created to use them as center as a community to come together to discuss community problems,” he added.

Also speaking, the Local Right Programs Action Aid Nigeria, Mr. Joseph Augustine, lauded the council and members of its staff for supporting the initiative by CITAD. “It shows that AMAC is indeed very involved in reprogressive initiative like this.

“It is no longer news that ICT is gradually revolutionalising the world today in politics, economy, social arena and even in business. ICT is no longer knowledge for luxury but a necessity to human existence especially at this particular time that we are in.

“Action Aid over the years have assured that human capacity development is taking seriously and continually to do its best within its power to see that more people are empowered to help them stand firm individually, as a community and an organisation where they are working.”

Joseph encouraged  the participants to take the training seriously, and not to keep what they will be learning from the training to themselves but spread it to others.

The SA on ICT/Donor Agencies and Civil Societies, Mr. Abiodun Easier commended CITAD for giving the participants opportunity to undergo the training and to take AMAC to the generality of building the capacity of their staff.

While commending CITAD and AMAC, one of the beneficiaries Mrs. Joyce Dan-Matthew information and P.R Division AMAC said it is a privilege to step up with computer knowledge and ICT. Adding that, “we cannot drive in our job without ICT because ICT is required for us to disseminate information. We will put in our best to learn all that we need to learn to utilise the skills.”
