China hails Nigeria over joint ONSA, DSS, Military rescue of four abducted Nationals

The government of the People’s Republic of China has lauded Nigeria for the successful rescue of four Chinese nationals abducted in Kwara State.
The commendation came from the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, during the official handover of the rescued victims on Sunday at the Department of State Services (DSS) medical facility in Abuja.
Ambassador Dunhai, represented by Consul Wang Jun, praised the Nigerian authorities—particularly the DSS—for their swift, intelligence-driven operation, which ensured the safe release of the Chinese miners.
The victims — Dansu Zhou, Zhou Hai, Zhou Jia Jun, and Fan Xiu Guo — were freed on Saturday following a coordinated operation by operatives of the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), DSS, the Nigerian Army, and the Police.
The Chinese envoy also expressed gratitude to the DSS for the quality medical care provided to the rescued citizens, noting that it aided their speedy recovery. He described the DSS medical facility as “world-class,” adding that the Chinese government was unaware the Service possessed such advanced healthcare infrastructure.
“After their rescue, DSS personnel promptly brought our citizens to their medical centre for comprehensive evaluation, where they received exceptional care before being handed over to the embassy,” Wang Jun said.
According to reports, the Chinese miners were ambushed by seven armed bandits wielding AK-47 rifles while en route to a mining site in Saminaka village, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The DSS has recently intensified operations nationwide, targeting criminal networks involved in kidnapping and arms trafficking. These efforts have led to several breakthroughs, including the interception of weapons and the dismantling of armed groups.
Notably, a recent operation in Asaba, Delta State, saw the Service seize seven General Purpose Machine Guns (GPMGs) along with ammunition — an achievement widely praised as a testament to the DSS’s growing effectiveness in combating insecurity and restoring national stability.
