Chairmanship Crisis: We Are Immediately Heading To Supreme Court – Makarfi
The Ahmed Makarfi’s faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Friday vowed to contest the earlier ruling of a Port Harcourt Appeal Court affirming Ali Modu Sheriff as the national Chairman of the party.
Makarfi’s faction described as an attempt by the All Progressives Congress, APC, to create a one party system in Nigeria.
Recall that a three man panel of the Appeal Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State had earlier declared Sheriff as the authentic Chairman of the former ruling party.
In a series of tweets on its social media handle @OfficialPDPNig, the party wrote: “Two out of the 3 man Justices of the Appeal Court gave a scanty judgment in favour of Senator Ali Modu Sheriff while one for Makarfi.
“The Judgment has finally shown that the ruling Party, the APC is out to create a one party state in the country.
“The Party is proceeding immediately to the Supreme Court to file an appeal against the ruling of today’s appeal court judgment.”
