The Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) has announced an internal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Yoruba Nollywood actress, Temitope Osoba, amid allegations linking her fiancé, Prophet Itunu Onadeko, to the controversial incident.

Osoba, who was 40, died on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, shortly after celebrating her recovery from breast cancer. Her death has since generated widespread reactions and raised questions over the circumstances surrounding her passing.

In a statement signed by the Head of Media and Publicity of the Celestial Church of Christ Worldwide, AVSE Kayode Ajala, the church said it was deeply concerned about the controversy surrounding the death and the alleged involvement of Onadeko, a shepherd of the church.

The church described the allegations as embarrassing and capable of damaging its reputation, stressing that it would not remain passive while its name was being associated with the controversy.

The CCC also rejected allegations that its religious practices permit idolatry, black magic, cultism or the use of charms, saying the church operates according to strict spiritual principles and a constitutionally established code of conduct.

“As a church, we are already discreetly investigating the circumstances that led to the death of Temitope Osoba,” the statement said.

The church assured the public that it would “leave no stone unturned” in its efforts to establish the truth and ensure that anyone found culpable in the actress’ death is brought to justice.

It further called on the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances of Osoba’s death.

The church said it was prepared to cooperate fully with the authorities to ensure that justice was served.

According to the statement, the Pastor and Spiritual Head of the Celestial Church of Christ Worldwide, His Eminence Reverend Emmanuel Mobiyina Oshoffa, had directed that the church’s internal machinery be deployed to establish the facts surrounding the incident.

The church also stated that if allegations against Prophet Onadeko were established to be true, he would face appropriate internal disciplinary measures as well as prosecution under the law.

The CCC expressed condolences to Osoba’s family, friends and loved ones, praying for the repose of her soul.
